Hon. Ibrahim Musa Ashoms, the Honorable Commissioner of Information and Communication, welcomed the Plateau State Head of Service, Barr Rauta Dakok, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Hon. Chief Ephraim Usman, the Commisioner of Education, Secondary, Hon. Mohammed Salihu Nyalun, the Executive Chairman of the Plateau State Primary Education Board (PSUBEB), Engr. Sunday Amuna, the Executive Chairman of the Plateau State Teachers Commission, Hon. Alex Chup, the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),Mrs Ayuku Pwaspo, the Chairman of Plateau Publishers Association (PPA), Chief Amb. Nanyah Andrew Daman, Permanent Secretaries, Directors, Publishers, Journalists and Online Bloggers to the Plateau State Government in conjunction with the Ministry of Information and communication 2024 Monthly Ministerial Press Briefing.


Ashoms hinted that the Monthly Press Briefing is revived by the Time is Now Administration of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang to showcase the activities of Government to the electorates who voted them in.

 He said the Press Briefing will enable the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to give members of the general public what they have been able to achieve in the last one year, their challenges and prospects.

 He urged journalists to ask questions, and answers will be provided by the heads of all the MDA's.


In her submission, Hon. Barr. Rauta Dakok, the Plateau State Head of Civil Service hinted that the Office of the Head of Service obtained approval for the release of Three Hundred Million Naira (N300) monthly to offset and settle arrears of pensioners, their gratuities as well as death benefits from 1986 till date. 

The Head of Service also hinted that for the very first time under the administration of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Labor Union and Heads of MDA's had a workshop for a smooth working relationship.  

Other achievements, challenges, and prospects of the Office of the Head of Civil Service  were reeled out.


Hon. Chief Ephraim Usman, the Hon. Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs in his Press Briefing hinted that the present administration of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang inherited N4.6bn salary and pension arrears from the previous administration at the LGC level but is happy to announce that so farN1.7bn Primary Teachers arrears has been cleared. 

Usman also hinted that out of over N1bn LGC Pension arrears inherited, only about N300 million is still outstanding and will be cleared at the end of April 2024 God's willing. 

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs also told Journalists that the Ministry in conjunction with the Association of Local Government Chairman (ALGON) purchased 35 hilux vehicles for Operation Rainbow to strengthen security architecture at the grassroots level. He reeled out other achievements, challenges, and prospects of the Ministry.


Next to brief the press was the Commissioner of Education, Secondary,  Hon. Mohammed Salihu Nyalun. In his presentation, Nyalun pointed out that the Adolescent Gils Initiative For Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) is a State Government project with support from the Federal Ministry of Education and the World Bank. Nyalun said with the coming of the Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang administration, there has been intervention in One Hundred and Seventy Schools (170) where each of these schools witnessed wide spread renovation, complete disbursement of large grants to the 170 schools for renovation, WASH Facilities, ICT Equipments and school furniture. He asserted that 682 classrooms were renovated, 385 motorized boreholes drilled, 578 VIP toilets constructed with large number of furniture provided. 

The Commissioner also told Journalists that arrangements have been completed to give financial incentives to over 30,000 indigent students across 14 LGAs of the state with a whooping N1.3bn to help them continue schooling. He listed out achievements, challenges, and prospects of the Ministry. 


Engr. Sunday Samuel Amuna, the Executive Chairman of the Plateau State Primary Education Board hinted that under the Time is Now  Administration of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang who graciously paid the counterpart of the 3rd -4th Quaters of 2021 and 1st-4th Quarters of 2022 matching grant from the Universal Basic Education Commission and the award of 148 contracts for the renovation and construction of classrooms as well as the drilling of the borehole in various schools across the 17 LGAs of the Plateau state .

 Amuna also hinted that the Board's work on the 20 offices complex is at the roofing level at the SUBEB Headquaters, Jos. 

The Chairman also pointed out that 1031 ipads were procured and distributed to Data Masters for the improvement of data collection processes. He listed other achievements,  challenges, and prospects of the board.


Hon. Alex Chup, the Executive Chairman of the Plateau State Teachers Commission, presented the scorecard of the TSC from July 2023 to date, where he listed the backlog of promotions approved by Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang from 2019-2024. He said the Governor also gave approval for the recall of 989 teaching staff. He said in line with the directive of government that the TSC is desirous of automizing all activities of teachers in conjunction with the ICT unit.


Mr. Alex Anlong, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, who represented the Commissioner hinted that the Ministry metamorphosised from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Youths and Sports in1988 to the Ministry of Women and Social Development with the main responsibility of providing social services for women, girls, boys and men. The PS said the Ministry is proud that it has 9 female Permanant Secretaries , 4 Commissioners, and many female appointees. The PS said the Ministry was able to retrieve and re-unite 37 trafficked Plateau children with their families . He said that they have carried out advocacy and training on Gender Based Violence in the 17 LGAs of Plateau State in the last one year of the Governor Mutfwang Administration. He was happy to announce that 100 women got N100,000 and 20 women got N500,000 each for the Renewed Hope Agricultural grant to empower indigent women.


Mr. Samuel Aliyu Tsoho, the Permanent Secretary of the Plateau State Ministry of Information and Communication in his closing remarks thanked God Almighty and the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for the opportunity for a hitchfree 2024 Ministerial Press Briefing to highlight what has been done by the Ministries, Departments and Agencies. He equally appreciated the people of Plateau State for the support given to the Time is Now Administration of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang to succeed.  He thanked the members of the fourth estate of the realm for finding time despite their tight schedules to come and witness the Briefing and urged them for professional reportage.
