SECURITY CONCERN IN SOME PARTS OF BOKKOS LOCAL GOVERNMENT

 19-04-2024

OFFICE OF THE TRANSITION IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN BOKKOS LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOKKOS LOCAL GOVERNMENT, PLATEAU STATE.

SECURITY CONCERN IN SOME  PARTS OF BOKKOS LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Fellow citizens,

This is to brief you on the dwindling security situation in Bokkos Local Government following series of renewed and well coordinated violent attacks by well armed militias yesterday, *18th April, 2024* which claimed some lives in *Butura Kampani, Chikam and Butura Vet(Plateau State University)* which drew government's attention to immediately deploy security personnel to the affected areas to repel the attackers.

It should however be noted here that, the most recent attacks prior to the afore mentioned, were unleash in  *Mandung-mushu, Mbar, Kuba, Mangor, Tangur, Njukudel, Sangwak, and Mai Dalili* with equally some deads recorded.

As at today, students of the Plateau State University Bokkos took to the street to protest the killing of a 200 Level student of Department of Computer Sciences in the unfortunate attack. While is this unfortunate, I am calling for calm as the Council in collaboration with stakeholders, security operatives, Plateau State Government as well as the Federal government are working round the clock to ensure normalcy returns.

While the government in collaboration with security operatives explore all possibilities and avenues to restore normalcy, I send my sincere sympathy and condolence to the management, staff,  Students Union Government (SUG)and the entire students of Plateau State University Bokkos over the demise of one of its students as a result of the attacks.

My heart felt condolences also goes the the families and communities of those who lost their loved ones with the prayer that God grants them eternal rest and avert future occurrence.

Most importantly, I salute the resilience of our youth category for their bravery in defence of our land amidst superior weaponry of the militias.

Many thanks to our    traditional and community leaders, elders and stakeholders home and abroad for their various roles and sacrifices in quest for peace in our land. I assure you that our doors are open for your suggestions and advice on the matter at hane. May God bless you all.

Have the highest assurances of my commitment and determination towards ensuring that this ugly trend comes to an end.

Thank you.

Yours in service,

Hon. Chief Monday M. Kassah, Transition Implementation Committee Chairman Bokkos Local Government.
