Today, the Plateau State Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency, under the leadership of the Director General Mr. Samuel Nathaniel Dapiya, accompanied by Hon. Hon. Nuru Shehu, Jos North-North Constituency Liaison Officer, and a delegation of government representatives, including the General Manager of JMDB, Arc. Kim Jerry Bot, conducted a thorough on-site assessment and engagement with communities along Bauchi Road in response to the recent devastating rainstorm that wreaked havoc on properties, places of worship, and residential homes.

The delegation made a stop at Islamiya Pilot Science School Bauchi Road Jos, where they met with Baba Sagagi, the Headteacher of the school, witnessing firsthand the extensive flood suffered by the institution. Amidst the debris, students and staff were observed tirelessly working to clear the area.

Subsequently, they interacted with residents of Dan Maraya Street and Masallacin Baba Kwalkwala, both severely impacted by the torrential rainfall. Representatives from these communities, including Alhaji Dauda Miko, Alhaji Ibrahim Narogo, Baba Ganjarma, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Mai Battery, and Alh. Musa NEPA, expressed gratitude to Governor Caleb Mutfwang and The Time is Now administration for the swift government response and highlighted the significance of the visit during this time of misfortune as this is the first of its kind.

Acknowledging the inevitability of natural disasters, community members agreed with the importance of proactive environmental protection measures, such as clearing gutters and adhering to building standards, which was emphasized by the delegation. The General Manager of the Jos Metropolitan Development Board reiterated the necessity of proper drainage construction to mitigate future calamities, underscoring the importance of implementing Executive Order 003, signed by His Excellency, Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

In a heartfelt plea, the DG of PEPSA urged community support for the governor's initiatives aimed at enhancing the prosperity of Plateau State through proper sanitation. In response to the community's appeals for assistance, the delegation assured that all concerns would be promptly relayed to the governor for immediate action.

The present circumstances highlight the necessity of maintaining clear gutters and practicing responsible environmental habits, such as appropriate waste management, especially in anticipation of the rainy season.
