The 200-level students, majoring in Mass Communication at the University of Jos are gearing up for a significant undertaking: a sensitization campaign on environmental sanitation.

This initiative is part of their coursework in Public Relations, and they've chosen the activities of the Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) to drive their public relations practicals.

Their representative, Elisha Endurance Yak, provided us with a comprehensive overview of their project. They aim to address issues surrounding environmental cleanliness and waste management through targeted educational efforts; specifically public relations.

During a meeting with the Director General Mr. Samuel Nathaniel Dapiya and other management staff of the agency, the students gained valuable insights into PEPSA’s multifaceted responsibilities. The DG emphasized the importance of advocacy, highlighting environmental protection, sanitation practices, and efficient waste management as key areas of focus. He encouraged the students to initiate behavioral changes at a personal level, emphasizing that such changes would eventually translate into broader societal impacts through their campaign efforts.

Furthermore, the Director General underscored the broader significance of education, emphasizing its role not only in securing employment but also in equipping individuals with the tools to solve real-world problems effectively.

As the meeting drew to a close, the Director of Administration extended her gratitude to the students for their commitment and perseverance throughout the lengthy discussion and planning process.

Initiatives like this, which blend practicality with impactful outcomes, exemplify the commendable efforts of the university.

We trust that the valuable insights acquired will empower these students to produce remarkable results.

As an agency, we are committed to guiding and supporting this process every step of the way.

The Time is Now
