The True Worshippers Assembly, situated opposite Plateau Private School in Kyan Rikkos, Jos North, Plateau State, has embarked on a commendable endeavor by constructing public toilets for the community.

This initiative perfectly embodies the principle of community ownership in maintaining a clean environment, addressing the pressing issue of open defecation that our state grapples with, as evidenced by recent reports and rankings.

Special acknowledgment goes to Pastor Shola Olujobi, the driving force behind this essential facility, for his unwavering commitment to raising sanitation standards in the community. Such efforts play a pivotal role in combating the rampant problem of open defecation. If replicated by various communities, worship centers; Churches and Mosques , and big businesses, these initiatives could significantly alleviate this pervasive issue, provided there is a simultaneous shift in mindset and behavior among the populace.

By curbing open defecation, we can effectively mitigate the spread of diseases linked to poor sanitation—a cornerstone of His Excellency, Gov. Caleb Mutfwang’s administration’s vision for a healthier, more prosperous Plateau State.

It is encouraging to see Elder Musa Markus, representing the Village Head of Rikkos, Chief Ishaku Igyem, from the Lamingo area of Jos North, witnessing the church’s commendable efforts while asserting that the community will do everything within its means to safeguard the facility and pleaded with other occupants in the community to follow the example of True Worshippers Assembly.

On our side as an agency, we urge them to utilize their influence to amplify public awareness and foster community determination in eradicating open defecation, while also encouraging other well-meaning individuals to complement such initiatives, akin to the exemplary project undertaken by this church.
