COMMISSIONER OF WATER RESOURCES AND ENERGY HOSTED WORLD BANK DELEGATIONS.

Plateau State Commissioner of Water Resources and Energy Hon. Noel Naanniap Nkup hosted delegates of WORLD BANK TASK TEAM ON NIGERIA SUSTAINABLE URBAN AND RURAL WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION HYGIENE in his office on Monday 6th May 2024.

The powerful Task Team Delegation which comprises of World Bank Officials, Officers of Federal Project Implementating Unit (FPIU) from Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, as well as Consultants and Specialists in Water Sanitation and Hygiene were led by its African Head Mrs Ann and were in the Commissioner's Office on a courtesy visit.

In a very succinct discussion, the Team apprised the Hon. Commissioner that they were in the Ministry to inform the State Government that they are in the State on annual Mid Term Review of the Nigeria-Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Hygiene Project which Plateau State is among the Seven (7) States of Nigeria benefitting the scheme.

The Team added that they were in the Ministry to also review the ongoing Project Implementating Action Plans (PIAPs) to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with World Bank standard and they will be visiting projects sites to ascertain the quality and levels of implementing the project.

Implementation Agencies of similar projects from other states (Gombe, Katsina and Kaduna) were also in the Team for peers review of the projects.

The Team through their representatives who spoke during the visit lamented how this programme are neglected in some states but appreciated the efforts of Plateau State Government for keying into the scheme and investing in same.

They promised to always get back to the State to ensure progress of the projects and urged the Hon. Commissioner to make the project a people's movement.

Responding, the  Hon. Commissioner welcomed the Team and appreciated World Bank and the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation for choosing Plateau State as one of the beneficiaries of the scheme.

He recommended and appreciated their commitment and continued support to Plateau State and the Implementing Agencies.

Hon. Noel assured the team of the unalloyed support of the State Government under the Leadership of the Green Cap Administration captain His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang the Executive Governor of Plateau State.

Emphasising on the fact that Plateau Governor is doing everything humanly possible to ensure that Plateau citizens enjoy dividends of democracy from his administration, the Commissioner reiterated that indeed the "The time is Now" for Plateau State citizens to relax and enjoy the dividends of their efforts for bringing this Government onboard.

He promised the Team a complete compliance and commitment of the Ministry to ensure the scheme is executed to completion believing that the scheme is of utmost importance to Plateau State and the citizens.

Noel assured the team that he will brief His Excellency on the team's visitation and prayed God to bless them for their untiring efforts.
